LaMotte Pool & Spa Water Testers: Overview of Their Products Featuring the ColorQ Pro7

LaMotte Company is a leading manufacturer of test kits for a number of industries, including the Pool & Spa Industry. Their flagship tester is the ColorQ Pro 7 Photometer which does 7 test factors and displays the results on the digital screen. LaMotte also makes Test Strips as well as a line of Digital Testers. I will briefly go over some of their products here and give you a description of each, for more detail you can listen to the Podcast I recorded with Rich DeMoss of LaMotte where he goes over their product line-up in greater detail.

To listen to my Podcast interview with Rich DeMoss from LaMotte Company:

The ColorQ Pro 7 is a unique test kit that has been out for about 10 years now and is growing in popularity. The price point is on the high side coming in at around $150 but this is due in large part because of the digital photometer which is the heart of this tester. You simply fill the test tube with water and add 5 drops of the reagent. Insert the tube in the photometer and within seconds you will get the results displayed right on the screen. It couldn't be simpler. The ColorQ Pro 7 does 7 test factors: Free Chlorine, Total Chlorine, Bromine, PH, Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness and Cyanuric Acid. I really like the ease of use of the ColorQ Pro 7 and if you are looking for an easy way to get your pool water in balance this would be a great test kit for you. If you need to also test for Copper and Iron in your area the ColorQ Pro 9 does everything the Pro 7 does plus Copper and Iron.

The Insta-Test Strips are a great way to get a quick reading on your pools water chemistry. The Test Strips are very easy to use and the colors are very bright and vibrant so knowing your exact reading is very easy to see. LaMotte makes a variety of strips not only for the typical test factors but also for Phosphates, Copper, Ammonia, Hydrogen Peroxide and more. For the common test factors they make
a 3-way, 4-way and 6-way test strip that test for Free Chlorine, Total Chlorine, Alkalinity, pH, Total Hardness & Cyanuric Acid.

LaMotte markets their digital water testers under the TRACER logo and these digital testers can test for, Salinity (salt level) TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) Temperature, pH, ORP and Total Chlorine. I have used all of these digital testers and find that they are not only highly accurate but very easy to use. You can also order the TRACER testers with a very nice carrying case.

Here is more on some of their digital water testers:
The Salt/Temp tester's probe is dipped into a sample of pool water and the results are ready instantly. The Salt PockeTester measures the Sodium Chloride level in salt water pools with a range from 0 to 9,999 ppm. TDS is measured from 0 to 9,999 ppm and Temperature from 32.0° to 149°F. A memory feature saves up to 25 test results.

The LaMotte 1740 Total Chlorine Tracer PockeTester, 0 to 10ppm Range, +/-10% Accuracy, 0.01ppm Resolution

LaMotte 1741 pH Tracer PockeTester, 0-14pH Range, +/-0.01pH Accuracy, +/-0.01pH Resolution

Their premiere water tester is their WalterLink Spin Touch which can measure 10 test factors in less than 1 minute. Imagine doing all of these test within 60 seconds. If you are doing pool start-ups the power of this tester is just awesome. It will give you all the vital test factors to insure a perfect pool start-up. If you service Commercial Pools think of the time you will save when using the Spin Touch Mobile and since it logs the readings it will help protect you from Health department audits.
