The Pool Guy Show Podcast: Weekly Podcast all About Swimming Pool Care

I started a weekly podcast called the “Pool Guy Podcast Show” which will cover everything pool related in a 20-25 minute podcast. I will be uploading at least one new podcast per week so please Subscribe to my Podcast to receive future episodes.

On this weekly Podcast I will go over basic pool care, product reviews and I will be answering questions submitted by you. If you have a question or topic you would like me to discuss on a future Podcast feel free to email me at: swimmingpoollearning@gmail.com

I will also be conducting interviews with those in the industry and many of my guest will be talking in depth about their pool products and services. This will give you, the listener, a chance to hear first hand about their products and services in depth and in greater detail than a video can provide. I think this Podcast will benefit many listeners who need more in depth pool information that a video or a forum cannot provide. The Podcast will also allow for manufacturers and service providers to get the word out on their products and services.

In my first Episode I talk a little about me and my background so here is a little bit about me and what I do:

I am a Pool Service Professional with over 30,000 hours of practical experience. I currently maintain a pool route with about 100 accounts. I have extensive experience in water chemistry, automatic cleaners, pool filtration, pool equipment and automated systems.

I work in Southern California and have been in the pool industry since 1988 with a brief hiatus in the late 1990's to buy and sell Real Estate. Me and my wife have been following the Dave Ramsey plan for several years and we have paid off all of our debt plus three houses in Southern California -WE ARE DEBT FREE!

I am the creator of the #1 Swimming Pool Channel on YouTube which attracts viewers from within the industry and your typical homeowner who manages their own pool. My YouTube Channel Started in 2012 has over 39,000 subscribers and over 22 Million video views.

Mr. Pen Non-contact Voltage Meter - Don't Get Electrocuted!

One of the biggest issues you will run into with anything connected to an AC power is if that device or equipment is receiving power. In the pool service industry, this often is the case when you find that a pool pump won’t turn on. Or if a pool timer doesn't on, is it receiving power? Also for repairs with so many breakers being unmarked, how do you know you turned off the right breaker. Bottom line, a non-contact detector like the Mr. Pen is an easy way to see if power is going to the equipment/device and the line is active. A non-contact voltage detector is just that. You don’t need to make contact with the line like with a Multimeter. Plus you don’t need to adjust any settings or knobs to get a voltage reading. Simply hold the Mr. Pen over a cord or wire whip and if there is AC power a red light will turn on and an audible beep will come out of the device. Are Swimming Pool Forums Good?

When you do a Google search for any pool problem or swimming pool related issue, chances are you will find a post listed from a swimming pool forum in the search tag line. Either that or you will be directed to my YouTube channel ;) So you may wonder if the post is accurate since it is from a swimming pool forum and not the manufacturer or a pool company. Here are the most popular forums that you will run into when you search for a pool solution: www.troublefreepool.com community.poolcenter.com www.poolforum.com www.poolspaforum.com ths.gardenweb.com And there are a few smaller forums also on the web. So the question is can you trust the advice given out on these various forums? From hitting several of these over the years I have found that for the most part the advice is accurate.
