Zodiac MX8 ELITE VS MX6 ELITE

If you are in the market for a pool cleaner and are looking at the Zodiac MX8 Elite and MX6 Elite you may be wondering which one would be better for your particular pool. Note that the MX8 Elite and the M6 Elite are retail pool store cleaners only and cannot be purchased online. The online version of these two cleaners is the MX8 and MX6 which do not have the scrubbing brushes on the bottom.

Here is more about both cleaners from Zodiac:
“The Zodiac MX8 Elite is the first suction pool cleaner with Cyclonic Scrubbing Brushes that continually spin, scrub, and stay in constant contact with the pool surface to agitate and remove stuck-on debris. The MX8 Elite features aggressive wall climbing to scrub at the tile line and maX-Drive Navigation for better pool coverage with nimble programmed maneuverability. Regardless of the surface, the MX8 Elite actively tackles debris and directs it to the inlet using dual-cyclonic technology. With a wide cleaning path and a convertible vacuum inlet to allow for larger debris, this low-flow, energy-efficient suction cleaner delivers a thorough, comprehensive clean that outpaces other premium mechanical suction cleaners.”

Features
Cyclonic Scrubbing Action - Tackles fine and stuck-on debris
Extreme Wall Climbing - Scrubs to the tile line
maX-Drive Navigation - Delivers advanced 360-degree programming patterns
Larger Debris Consumption - Allows for larger debris consumption
Wide Cleaning Path - For quicker, more comprehensive coverage
Replaceable Scrubbing Brushes - Easily removed when worn or dirty
Dual-Cyclonic Suction - Delivers extreme wall climbing ability
Flow Regulator Valve - Automatically controls excess water flow for optimal performance
Low-flow Energy Efficient Design - Performs with variable-speed pumps and solar installations
Twist-Lock Hose - Reaches 39' with secure section connections

MX6 Elite
“The new MX6 is a highly efficient pool cleaning robot that features best-in-class vacuum power and programmed navigation for a comprehensively clean pool without the hassle. MX6 boasts an innovative low-flow design so it consumes less energy than any cleaner in its class, making it the ideal cleaner for pools with 2-speed or variable-speed pumps.”

Features
Cyclonic Suction - Provides powerful suction and aggressive wall climbing.
X-Drive Navigation - Intelligent bi-directional navigation to thoroughly clean floor, walls, and waterline.
Optimized Flow Control - Automatically controls excess flow through cleaner for optimal performance and longevity.
Low-Flow Energy Efficient Design - Ultra efficient operation. Best choice for variable-speed and 2-speed pumps and solar.
Flex Power Turbine - Articulating turbine blades provide ultra-efficient operation, even on low-flow pumps.
Easy-Grip Handle - For easy removal and transport.
Quick Connect - Enables the quick secure attachment to the cleaner head
Twist Locking Hose - Provides a simple connection and reduces vacuum loss.

For me, I would say that if you have a larger pool -15K gallons or more than the MX8 Elite would be the better choice. It comes with more hoses and the wider cleaning path will allow it to cover the pool quicker than the MX6 Elite. On the flip side of you have a smaller pool I would go with the MX6 Elite as the default model.

The MX6 Elite is much lighter and is ideal for Variable Speed pumps. I have run it successfully from a side port connection on as little as 2300 RPM. Running the MX6 Elite with a VS pump will maximize your energy savings since it does not require high speed to operate at. There are also fewer parts to replace on the MX6 Elite vs the MX8 Elite and both pick up the same size debris in my opinion.

It can be a tough choice between the two and both have the exceptional climbing ability in a pool and will clean your pool from the floor to the waterline.
