I think the ease of cleaning this filter is the key design feature. The drain plug is easily accessible and removing the locking ring to access the cartridge couldn’t be easier. The fact that the Pleatco ULTRA cartridge itself has no bands makes cleaning the cartridge a breeze. I’ve used other cartridge filters and many are a real pain to take apart and clean.
