Portable Filtration Systems vs Pool Vacuum Systems, Which One is Better?
Portable
Filtration System Pros:
Can
pick up fine dirt as well as regular leaf debris
Traps
dirt down to 15-20 microns
Works
independent of the pool’s filtration system
Depending
on the model can be attached to a hitch on the back of your vehicle
Can
vacuum to waste as well as recirculate
Can
be used as a temporary filtration system
Great
for Green Pool Clean Ups
Great
for pools with poor or broken equipment
Extend
the filter cleaning time of your customer’s pool
Portable
Filtration System Cons:
Need
electricity to operate -needs to be plugged in
Uses
a pool hose and manual vacuum head so you would need these items to vacuum
Has some trouble with piles of debris and large debris
Cartridge filter will need replacement
Models
without a hitch will need to be lifted into truck or van bed
Long
set up and break downtime
Pool
Vacuum System Pros:
Picks
up very large piles of debris and large debris
Currently
can only trap dirt down to 60 microns
Bag
on top allows for a large amount of debris to be vacuumed up
Works
independently of the pool’s filtration system and electrical system
Battery
is good for up to 8 hours of cleaning time (depending on the AH size)
Will
easily hitch onto the back of the truck with included Transport Rack
Clean
the messiest pools rapidly
Allows
you to do more pools each day
Eliminates
the need to manually vacuum a pool in most cases
Quick
and easy to use
Pool
Vacuum System Cons:
Will
not trap fine dirt particles
Bags
wear out and need to be replaced (dependent on use)
Initial
price point and investment is high
Will
need to purchase a battery and charger sold separately
I
think the bottom line is what type of debris is more common in your service
area. If you get more large leaf debris vs dirt and sand, then the Pool Vacuum System is the way to go. If you get more fine dirt and sand and less leaf
debris then the Portable Filtration System is what I would suggest. I have both
since in my service area I get both types of debris. I think you need to weigh
the pros and cons of each of these and then decide which one would be more
suitable for your service area.
If
you are a homeowner or take care of a Hotel or Resort you can of course
purchase one of these two systems or both to make maintaining your pool much
easier. Although they are geared towards the pool service professional many homeowners
and Resorts purchase them also.
Either
one would be a great addition to your pool service business.
