The
Jacuzzi brand of pool equipment has been around for a while now and the quality
of the product has really improved over the years. They also offer one of the
best warranties in the industry and include a solid 3-year warranty on their
filters. With the price point often discounted and at the time of this post you
can find this filter for around $800 online and at Leslie’s Pool Supply. At
that price, it is a solid choice for a larger D.E filter for your pool.
The
cartridge type D.E. filter has some advantages over the standard grid D.E.
filters. First, it will give you a larger filtration area as most standard D.E.
grid filters max out at 60 sq ft of filtration area. Also with this type of
filter, you get the ease of cleaning it like a cartridge filter. If you have
ever had a standard grid type D.E. filter you know what a pain it is to clean
it. Here is more about the filter and the features from the manufacturer.

The
J-DEQ80 D.E. Pool Filter features four easily accessible and removable
cartridges that greatly increase the cleaning capacity of this filter giving
you better performance and superior water quality. By maximizing the filtration
area, there will be longer periods between cleanings. If this D.E. Filter is
used properly, it can reduce water use and energy costs using a lower pump
pressure. For a D.E. Pool Filter that gives you cleaner and clearer pool water
with the same easy-cleaning benefits as a cartridge filter, the J-DEQ80 is the perfect choice.
I
think at the price point of $800 you really can’t go wrong with this filter. It
is backed by a very strong warranty and you can also get it professionally
installed by Leslie’s Pool Supply. A real win-win. If you do pool service and
have a wholesale account at Leslie’s this would be a good filter option for
your customers. With the dual inlets, it is easy to install and is designed to easily
replace either an existing cartridge or existing D.E. filter.

One of the biggest issues you will run into with anything connected to an AC power is if that device or equipment is receiving power. In the pool service industry, this often is the case when you find that a pool pump won’t turn on. Or if a pool timer doesn't on, is it receiving power? Also for repairs with so many breakers being unmarked, how do you know you turned off the right breaker. Bottom line, a non-contact detector like the Mr. Pen is an easy way to see if power is going to the equipment/device and the line is active. A non-contact voltage detector is just that. You don’t need to make contact with the line like with a Multimeter. Plus you don’t need to adjust any settings or knobs to get a voltage reading. Simply hold the Mr. Pen over a cord or wire whip and if there is AC power a red light will turn on and an audible beep will come out of the device. A very easy way to tell if power or a current is present. To order: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B092LFYTG5?&_encoding=UT...
When you do a Google search for any pool problem or swimming pool related issue, chances are you will find a post listed from a swimming pool forum in the search tag line. Either that or you will be directed to my YouTube channel ;) So you may wonder if the post is accurate since it is from a swimming pool forum and not the manufacturer or a pool company. Here are the most popular forums that you will run into when you search for a pool solution: www.troublefreepool.com community.poolcenter.com www.poolforum.com www.poolspaforum.com ths.gardenweb.com And there are a few smaller forums also on the web. So the question is can you trust the advice given out on these various forums? From hitting several of these over the years I have found that for the most part the advice is accurate. Maybe not 100% of the time but pretty close. Each of these forums has moderators that verify posts and there are many long time members that are qualified to answer or clarify a specific post or...
