How To Program a Jandy JEP-R Variable Speed Pump Controller

Image
In this Article I go over the programming of the Jandy JEP-R Variable-Speed Pump Digital Controller for the Jandy Variable Speed pumps. The JEP-R looks complicated to program but is actually quite easy. The JEP-R overall is a good controller for your Jandy Variable speed (VS) pump. The JEP-R can hold two schedule speed programs and up to a total of eight different speeds. This is where it can be confusing. You can program only two speeds to come on at set times. For example you might want low speed to run from 7:00am to 1:00pm (eStar speed) and Speed 2 to run form 1:00pm to 3pm. So you can set these specific daily run times in the JEP-R in the first two buttons on the controller. Buttons 3 and 4 can be programmed for a specific speeds (the speeds on a VS pump are referred to as RPM). But they can only be set for a run duration time, like 2 hours, and button 3 and 4 will need to be manually started by pressing the button. There are also optional speeds 5-8 that can be s

How to Install a Jandy JEP-R Variable Speed Pump Controller

Image
In this article I go over how to install the Jandy JEP-R Varaible Speed Pump Controller to your Jandy Variable Speed Pump. If you don't have a Jandy AquaLink System then you will need to control your Jandy VS pump with the JEP-R controller. The JEP-R comes shipped in the open position and the wiring is pretty basic. There is a cable included with your new Jandy VS pump that you can use to connect the pump to the JEP-R. I will go over some details here in this article. First and foremost, turn off all power to the pump. Also make sure that the PVC plumbing is sufficiently dry before wiring and starting the JEP-R, as the pump may turn on during the programming phase. To learn how to program the JEP-R, refer to this video: How To Program a Jandy JEP-R Variable Speed Pump Controller: https://youtu.be/zI9KgUfYpjE I also suggest before installing the JEP-R controller that you also look into purchasing and using Jandy's new iQPUMP01 interface/controller. Pool Blaster Battery Operated Volt FX-2 Pool and Spa Vacuum by Water Tech

Image
In this article I go over the Water Tech Pool Blaster Volt FX-2. The Volt FX-2 is only sold at your local brick and mortar pool store and is not sold online. The Volt FX-2 would be great for your spa, kiddy pool or small above ground pool. Over 600 retail pool stores carry the Volt FX-2 so finding it shouldn't be a problem. The FX-2 has plenty of vacuuming power and will easily pick up dirt and debris. It also comes with 2 fine mesh filter inserts for finer dust and silt. The Volt FX-2 also now comes with a new 2 year limited warranty. I really like the Pool Blaster cleaners and use them everyday on my pool route. Currently I carry the Pool Blaster CG and the Pool Blaster Max HD in my truck and use them in spas, water features and to spot vacuum pools. My Pool Blaster Max CG is over 2 years old and still working fine. It is all in the proper care of the unit. Care for the FX-2 is pretty simple. You will want to drain it completely after each use and I also su

Benefits of a Variable Speed Pump

Image
In this video, I cover some of the great benefits of replacing your standard speed pump with a Variable Speed Pump. A Variable Speed pump like the Jandy VS FloPro that appears in this video series does just what the name implies, it runs at different speeds are known as RPM. RPM stands for “ Revolutions per minute (abbreviated rpm , RPM , rev/min , r/min ) is a measure of the frequency of rotation , specifically the number of in one minute.” - Wikipedia By running at variable speeds which I will refer to as RPM, the pump consumes less power as it is running at a lower RPM. Just to contrast, the 2 HP WisperFlo pump I replaced would run at 2400 Watts each hour for 4 hours a day – consuming 9,600 watts or 9.6 kWh of electricity. “ The kilowatt-hour (symbol kWh ) is a derived unit of energy equal to 3.6 megajoules. If the energy is being transmitted or used at a constant rate (power) over a period of time, the total energy in kilowatt -hours is the power in kilowat
